We look forward to Dr Mead joining us for our March 4,’26 meeting when he will take us on a tour of Sussex Literary Landscapes.
Dr Geoffrey Mead has a BA degree in Geography (Sussex) and an MA in English Local and Regional History. His PhD in Geography was titled “Scattered Squalor and Downland Homes: interwar suburban development at Patcham Brighton.”
He specialises in the landscapes of SE England, in both urban and rural areas. His MA was on 1930’s Brighton and he did his doctorate on the suburban growth of the interwar period. He gives talks across SE England to a wide range of groups, from universities to local history societies, WI groups , U3A, Probus and Round Tables and runs weekly classes at local community centres. The most requested from his range of talks are those that combine social history, geography, geology and a ‘sense of place’.
