Actress, radio presenter and story-teller, Elizabeth Cassie, spoke at the September meeting about ‘Mothers and Daughters’ and their relationships through fiction, letters, and poetry.
She read from Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and Louisa May Alcott’s ‘Little Women’, showing the contrasting ways in which mothers show their love for their daughters. ‘The Letters of Madame de Sevigne’ illustrated yet another aspect of mother love. Elizabeth also read from the letters of Sylvia Plath and poems by Liz Lochhead.
We look forward to Elizabeth’s return to the Society next year for another of her dramatic readings from literature.
