Violet gives us her eyewitness account of the most written about disaster of the twentieth century. You will hear how after helping women and children into the lifeboats\, she was ordered into Lifeboat 16. As the lifeboat was being lowered\, one of the Titanic officers gave her a parcel to look after – she was surprised when she found herself holding a baby. She describes how she watched\, fascinated as the ship went down “as if by looking I could keep her a float.” But\, just how unlucky can a young woman get\, when a few years later in 1916 after training as a nurse\, she was sailing on the RMS Britannic when the ship hit a mine and began to sink! \nThis is a performance that you will find hard to forget. \n
