This year’s party began with a double drama. Due to be entertained with seasonal offerings by our Patron, Simon Brett and member John Clegg, we learned at the eleventh hour that John was spending the evening in A and E after a fall. Secondly the accompanist for Marjorie James’s song had not arrived.
Undaunted, Marjorie sang unaccompanied and Simon rose to the occasion miraculously producing enough readings, both happy and sad, to cover for John’s absence.
The superb meal, planned and cooked by Louise, was enjoyed by all.
We later learned that John was treated for a cut on his head but made a quick recovery.
