Kevin Maynard

Kevin spoke about three titans of Latin American literature at our February 4 ’26 meeting- the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, the Argentinian essayist, poet and writer of short fiction, Jorges Luis Borges, and the Columbian novelist, Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

During the ‘Latin American Boom’ of the 1960s and 1970s, like so many others in Europe and the USA at the time, Kevin read widely in the literature emanating from Central and South America.  In his talk he will concentrate on just three major figures who sprang to prominence then, while briefly alluding to several others in passing.

Kevin taught English for many decades and studied at Exeter University, the Warburg Institute, the UEA and SOAS.
