Gordon Griffin

Gordon Griffin is the foremost audiobook reader in the UK with 850 titles (and counting) to his credit. In his April 2019 talk “Speaking Volumes” he will describe how a boy from Newcastle with a Geordie accent became the person who has recorded more audiobooks than anyone else in Europe. Gordon has recorded everything from Homer’s Odyssey to Chris Ryan, from Dickens’s Tale of Two Cities to  Catherine Cookson. He has recorded books as wide-ranging as Orwell’s Nineteen-Eighty-Four to Robinson Crusoe; from the letters of Winston Churchill to the biography of Alan Turing. During his talk he will read extracts from audiobooks he has recorded, including from his award-winning recording of Oxygen by Andrew Miller. In the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2017 Gordon was awarded an MBE.
