Virginia McKenna is best remembered for her film roles in Born Free, Ring of Bright Water and Carve Her Name with Pride. She has also written several books and recorded numerous plays for radio and audio books. Her memoir The Life of My Years was published in 2009 and appeared in paperback in 2010, Her book of poetry “Tonight the Moon is Red” was published in 2014. She is heavily involved in animal conservation and welfare. She and her late husband Bill Travers founded the charity Born Free. She was awarded an OBE in 2004 for her contribution to the arts and animal welfare. We are delighted to be welcoming her on August 21st, 2019 when she will give a presentation on her work and writing life.
