Timothy Walker is a botanist, Fellow of the Linnaean Society and former Director of University of Oxford’s Botanic Garden and the Harcourt Arboretum. He joins us for our Jan ’24 meeting to speak about the history of botanical illustration and the superiority of paintings and drawings over digital illustration. Botanical illustrated books are amongst some of the most valuable and collectable books to be found in specialist libraries, dealer’s catalogues and museums, and there is still a thriving market for new publications as they appear.
From August 2014 he has been a lecturer in Plant Sciences at Somerville College, Oxford, and he now holds similar positions at Pembroke College and Hertford College.
