Kevin will be speaking on Chinese Poetry in translation at our April 3, ’24 meeting. The title of the talk is “Mountains and Rivers Without End.”
Kevin taught English for many decades and studied at Exeter University, the Warburg Institute, the UEA and SOAS. Retirement enabled him to concentrate more intensively on one of his many private passions: translating classical Chinese poetry. Translations and original poems have appeared in a range of little magazines. His anthology of translations of ancient and medieval Chinese war poetry, The Iron Flute was published by arcpublications in September 2019. He has received two ‘Commendations’ in the Stephen Spender Competition (for Poetry in Translation) and on two other occasions been favourably mentioned in the Judges’ Comments.
