Event Navigation
If you want to know more about the work of a thriller writer, look no further than the June meeting of the Chichester Literary Society. The Brighton based crime writer and journalist William Shaw will be our guest speaker on Wednesday 5 June at 2pm in Boxgrove Village Hall. As always, we are always pleased to welcome non-members who can buy tickets on the door at £8.00 each.
Best known for his DS Alexandra Cupidi series and the standalone bestseller The Birdwatcher, all set in Dungeness Kent. He’s also the writer of the acclaimed Breen & Tozer crime series set in 1960’s London. William Shaw has been shortlisted for the Crime Writers Association Gold Dagger three times and long listed for the Theakston Crime Novel of the Year.
William started out as assistant editor of the post-punk magazine ZigZag, and has been a journalist for The Observer, The New York Times, Wired, Arena and The Face and in 2003 was Amazon UK Music Journalist of the Year.
He is also the author of some well-researched, investigative and gritty non-fiction books including Westsiders , an account of several young would-be rappers struggling to establish themselves against a backdrop of poverty and violence in South Central Los Angeles, and Spying In Guru Land , in which he joined several British religious cults in order to discover and write about them.
