Some of our members had already enjoyed a look at our new venue, Boxgrove Village Hall, in April when we invited members for an introductory visit. The Celebration Summer Party in July was the first ‘real’ event for our re-vamped Society – a new venue and a change to afternoon meetings.
The twenty six members who gathered for a social afternoon of good food and good company were greeted with glasses of Prosecco by ‘barman’ Brian before sitting down to an excellent three course lunch. The fine sunny weather allowed us to drink our “welcome drink “ outside in the patio/park area at the back of the venue with music provided by Danny Hughes.
The much larger kitchen made it easier for Louise and her helpers and they pulled out all the stops to produce a marvellous meal. After the seafood starter, guests helped themselves from a delicious buffet of ham, beef and salmon, with salads and other side dishes. The selection of desserts made by Mary made a tempting display and a satisfying end to the meal.
Thanks to Louise and Brian, Danny Hughes, all the committee members and the kitchen helpers who helped to make this lunch party an excellent celebration of our new venue.
